Hobe Sound Golf Club first opened for play in 1986. The course was designed by Joe Lee.

The fairways are somewhat narrow, The course is mainly level, but there is some mounding that can give you an uneven lie.  The marshlands and/or water hazards come into play on all the holes. The sand bunkers are well-positioned.  The average-sized greens vary in undulation and are fast.  

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6,664 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,087 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 1, a par-5 that plays to 542 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 14, a par-3 that plays to 160 yards from the back tees.
